SMALL
GROUPS
Creating spaces for biblical community to be fostered and authentic relationships to grow with faith in Christ as the connector
FIND A SMALL GROUPPurpose
Small Groups at Epiphany Brooklyn are our launch pad into community. Throughout the week people meet in homes & small businesses to share their lives, get into the word, and pray. It is our hope that through this experience you are able to grow closer to both God and his people, so during each session leaders facilitate conversations that help break down the key points from the Sunday sermon. Throughout each semester, or what we refer to as a season or “SZN”, groups also plan outings and attend events together.
Small Group vs Bible Study
Small Groups at Epiphany Brooklyn are a bit different from what you may have grown up referring to as bible study groups. The major difference being that Small Group leaders are facilitators, not teachers. Using questions provided by our Community Life Leads, the Small Group Leaders facilitate the group discussion in a way that allows the group to arrive at a better understanding of the Sunday sermon. Although leaders may be required to explain a term or provide context (e.g what is sanctification?), the relationship between a leader and their group is more like discipleship and less like a teacher to their students.
Logistics
Small Groups at Epiphany BK meet around NYC at various times on different days of the week. Each Small Group session only lasts for 90 minutes, so come ready to discuss last Sunday’s sermon, pray, and share.
Starting in 2024, Small Groups at Epiphany BK began to run for three SZNs every year.
SZN I: Jan 15 - Mar 11
SZN II: Apr 8 - June 17th
SZN II: Sept 16 - Nov 18th

Foundational Scripture for Biblical Community
Acts 2:42-47
And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Colossians 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working
2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
